KeymasterBase6 Sia (Pronounced: /ʃiːə/ or “Shee-ah”)
A Strategic Version of Base6 with Action & Counterplay Mechanics
Game Overview
- Players: 2-6
- Ages: 7+
- Playtime: 20-40 minutes
Objective: Be the first to empty your hand by playing cards that match the suit or rank, while strategically using Action and Wild Action cards to disrupt opponents.
Setup
- Shuffle all Standard, Wild, Action, and Wild Action cards into a single deck.
- Deal 9 cards to each player.
- Place the remaining cards in the center as the draw pile.
- Flip the top card of the draw pile to the center as the starting Play Card.
Gameplay
Players take turns by placing a card onto the Play Card that follows these rules:
Standard Play Rules
- A card must be placed if it matches:
- Suit: (Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Red, Orange, or Wild)
- Rank: (2-10, J, Q, K, A)
- Wild Cards may be played on any card.
- If a player cannot play, they must draw one card.
- If the drawn card can be played, it must be played immediately.
Action & Counterplay Rules
Some action cards can be deflected, compounded, or blocked:
Action Card Effect Counterplay Skip Skips the next player’s turn. Cannot be countered. Reverse Reverses the turn order. Cannot be countered. Dice 🎲 The next player rolls a die and draws the rolled number of cards. If the next player has a Dice card, they can deflect the action to the next player and add a required die to the roll. Swap The current player swaps hands with another player of their choice. If the targeted player has a Swap, they may immediately play it to redirect the effect to another player. Recycle The current player chooses a player (including themselves) to discard their entire hand and draw 6 new cards. If the targeted player has a Recycle, they may immediately play it to redirect the effect to another player. +/- 1 The current player may discard a card, and the next player must draw a card. If the next player has a +/- 1, they may compound the effect, increasing the draw requirement or discard count, and play continues as normal. Block If played immediately, it cancels an inflicted action (Swap, Recycle, +/- 1, Dice, or Bomb). Does not restrict regular play. Bomb 💥 Removes any card from play, including action cards. Any player may play a Bomb immediately to undo a Block action. Wild Can be played on any card. The player calls the suit that must be played next. Cannot be countered. Turn Flow
- Play a card that matches the Play Card (or draw if unable to play).
- Use Action Cards strategically.
- Respond with Counterplay if targeted by an action.
- End turn after a move is made.
- If a player cannot play, they must draw a card. If playable, it must be played immediately.
Winning the Game
- The first player to empty their hand wins.
- If the draw pile runs out, the player with the fewest cards left wins.
Game Variations
Stack Mode
- Players may stack cards of the same suit or rank to play multiple cards in a turn.
- Wild & Action cards can only be stacked if the base card allows stacking.
Matching Icon Mode
- Instead of playing based on suit and rank, players may match icons on the cards.
Swap & Recycle Simplified Mode
- Swap & Recycle only affect the next player instead of allowing the player to choose anyone.
Swap 1 Card Mode
- Instead of swapping entire hands, a player may only swap 1 card with another player.
Recycle More or Fewer Cards Mode
- Instead of drawing exactly 6 new cards, a player may draw fewer or more based on a predetermined rule.
Strategy Tips
- Hold onto Block Cards to counter opponents’ actions.
- Use Swap & Recycle at the right moment to disrupt strong hands.
- Chain +/- 1 cards to force massive draws or optimize your hand.
- Save Wilds to dictate the game flow.
SIA offers a mix of strategic action and reactive counterplay, making each match engaging and unpredictable!
