Objective
The objective of Hexilerate is to be the first player to reach 100 points by creatively connecting cards with images, numbers, and suits in ways that other players accept as valid relationships.
Game Components
- 91 Standard Hexagonal Cards (6 colors, 13 ranks each: 2–10, J, Q, K, A, plus 13 wild cards)
- Draw Pile (remaining deck of cards after initial deal)
Players
- Players: 2-6
- Age Range: 7+
- Playtime: 15-30 Minutes
Setup
- Shuffle the 91 standard cards thoroughly.
- Deal 6 cards to each player.
- Place the remaining deck face-down in the center as the draw pile.
- Draw one card from the deck to start the play area.
Gameplay
Players take turns placing one card from their hand onto the play area, connecting it to at least one existing card by matching either suit or rank. After playing a card, players must discard one card face down and draw a new card to maintain a hand of 6 cards.
Creating Connections
When placing a card, the player describes a creative or logical relationship between the images on their card and the images on the connected cards. Other players must decide whether to accept the relationship:
- If accepted, the player scores points equal to the total value of all connected cards in the sequence.
- If rejected, the player discards the card and draws a new one without scoring.
Point Values
- Ace: 20 points
- J, Q, K: 15 points
- Numbered Cards: Face value (e.g., a 10 card is worth 10 points)
Winning
The game continues until a player reaches 100 points, at which point they are declared the winner!
